Once upon a time you would build a good Facebook page for your business, attracted lots of fans, and you would have created another platform to interact to potential and existing clientèle and customers.  However, Facebook continues to adapt its advertising algorithms to control more of what users get to see in their news feeds, so many brands who had previously been advertising on Facebook have watched the organic reach of their pages decline.  Facebook have responded with arguments stating that it’s all about relevancy and about making Facebook the best it can be for its users.

While we may not agree with their tactics, we have to face that Facebook is the biggest social network of its kind, so we have to learn to play by its rules. So it's time for startups, small businesses and non-profits to throw out the old guide and begin again.
